The powerful Formula 1 strategy group on Thursday rejected Ferrari's proposal to replace the current V6 engines with a twin-turbo V8 formula for 2017. However, Auto Motor und Sport reports that plans to boost the cars to a whopping 1,000 horse power nonetheless remain on track.

So 1,000HP turbo V6 isn't shabby, I bet they are louder.

Did Ferrari propose this so they could do a tie in with their new 488GTB? It would fit perfectly, and they could say it has an F1 engine.

What engine is that and how can I get it into my old truck?

Exactly, even though I doubt there would be a single common part between the two.

Ford Modular V8 with some sweet velocity stacks.. I guess that's pretty obvious... No clue on size or # of valves.

I think my truck needs velocity stacks.

I concur. I'd put velocity stacks on just about every engine I own if I could.

I guess it's time to start looking at engines and parts again. The desire usually dies down once I start totaling prices.

I'm not poor but I definitely don't have thousands laying around just for fun.

I know that feel.. sigh, I know it well. These days I don't have thousands laying around for anything.. nothing at all, frankly. If I purchase anything else car related, my GF will make sure I'm "grounded"...

*shudders*

That is a Ford Cosworth DFV. Built for Lotus in 1967 and powered race cars in F1 and elsewhere until 1990 or so.

So it'll totally fit in my truck. Drivability may suffer

Just drive the throttle like a light switch.

Old truck = little weight on rear and no TC

It would take effort to not spin the tires all the time. Would be fun though.

F1 engines eat parts, plus limited life.

Yeah....

In reality I prefer usable power anyway. I think cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, or the simpler Hellcat are cool in concept but I wouldn't want to own any really because it would be a permanent tease unless I took it to a track.

I do wanna build up my truck motor though. It's a '79 with a few mods so it's not impressive in the size/power efficiency ratio but it did me well in high school.
